Instructions

After selecting a year and running the report, export the results to Excel for further processing. Use Excel to identify students that are missing their TIN, Address and other fields since that data will need to be corrected before moving to the next step. To correct missing values, it's recommended that you add the missing data to Northstar directly (via Demographics or similar forms) and then re-generate the report so that the missing data will be available in following years.

Parameters

Note: This report can only be run between Jan 1 and Jan 31 of the reporting year.
Name Required Effect
1098-T Year Yes The year determines which range of transactions will be included in the report totals. Example, if 2016 is selected, all payment and refund transactions posted between Jan 1, 2016 and Dec 31, 2016 will be included.

Population

All students for whom the college received payment within the reporting period (from any source and in any amount) for any qualified tuition related expense (tuition or fees of any amount).

Results

This report exports to Excel. This report exports to Excel.

However, since its results are later imported into the 1098-T Records form as the data that will be officially sent, you can use the image below to reference which Box the data corresponds to.

Note: This report also includes columns that start with an X_ prefix. These columns are not importable when using the 1098-T Records form and are not used in 1098-T reporting. Their availability is intended to aid in the reporting process by providing contextual access to relevant student data.
